(TRUNEWS) President Barack Obama shed tears Tuesday as he gave an address from the White House to defend his gun control plans.
His executive action will increase background checks, which will affect online retailers, people who only sell guns occasionally, and those trading guns at shows. The action will also fund hundreds of new ATF agents and prohibit people with certain mental health conditions from possessing a weapon.
Obama will try to get Americans on board with his gun agenda Thursday, when he appears in a live town hall on CNN.
The move comes amid recent shootings, including the massacre in San Bernardino, California. The victims were not armed, in a state with some of the toughest gun control laws in the U.S. But, a Daily Caller News Foundation study showed private citizens with firearms stopped at least 283 killings between July 2014 and July 2015.
TheDCNF reports Obama has claimed more than 30,000 people die from guns every year, but omitted that 60 percent are suicides, 6 percent are gang related and 3 percent are accidents.
