Jeffress campaigns with Trump - from TRUNEWS

Donald Trump campaigned this weekend with one of the country’s most prominent evangelicals – Dr. Robert Jeffress.

The leader of the 12,000-member megachurch in Dallas said he cannot officially endorse a candidate, but he told OneNewsNow Trump would “make a great president of the United States”.

Jeffress said he was invited by Trump to hold prayers at two campaign stops in Iowa.

Earlier this month at a campaign stop at Liberty University, he was introduced by Jerry Falwell, Jr., son of the late pastor Jerry Falwell, Sr.

In the OneNewsNow interview, Jeffress said American needs a Christian in the White House, but if it’s not possible than the second choice is to “have somebody who can slow down the moral and spiritual death spiral that this country is in.”

Sunday Trump went church in between campaign stops in Iowa, trying to build support among evangelical Christians and leaders. The Iowa caucus will be held next week.   Religious votes are big in the state, where Trump’s main competition is Ted Cruz, the son of a preacher.
