(TRUNEWS) Vigils are being held this weekend at various churches across the country to pay respects to the 58 million babies who have been murdered since January 22, 1973, when the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion.
The case was the infamous Roe v. Wade, when a young woman, “Jane Roe” who claimed to have been raped was given the legal right to end a life. But since that court decision, Roe has become pro-life.
Norma McCorvey is her real name and her baby was not aborted, but was given up for adoption due to the timing of the case. Over the past few decades McCorvey has told her story, claiming most of the facts in the case were based on lies.
She has stated she was a pawn in an agenda to end the ban on abortion and she actually knew very little about what was going on. McCorvey said her attorney, Sarah Weddington would tell her the baby was “just a piece of tissue”.
The rape claim was also not true, according to the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment.
After working at an abortion clinic in Dallas, McCorvey began to see the reality. When a pro-life group moved into the same building as the clinic, she started to understand ending a life was not a right. She also formed a bond with the 7-year-old daughter of one of the pro-lifers, who invited her to Church. McCorvey found Christ there.
In 2003 she tried to get the Fifth Circuit appeals court to overturn Roe v. Wade, but they dismissed the case. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear it.
McCorvey has continued to testify about the pro-abortion agenda before Congress and speak out about her case.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5.
