(TRUNEWS) Police in Scotland were flooded with phone calls Monday night from people who saw a fireball in the sky.
The flash had hues of green, blue and white according to Mail Online. A loud rumbling sound accompanied the light. It was captured by some drivers on their dashboard cameras.
Experts believe the light was probably a meteor, but that theory has not been proven. Weather related issues have been ruled out.
Other theories suggest it may have been a sonic boom from a plane or a flare from a satellite, but the British Ministry of Defense said it didn’t have any reports of aircraft in the area experiencing problems.
Two years ago a meteor exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia causing damage on earth for a 50-mile radius. Scientists said it was 30 times brighter than the sun with a force 40 times stronger than the atomic bomb at Hiroshima.
