Saudi Arabia considering “Plan B” for Syria if ceasefire fails - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) Saudi Arabia has admitted a U.S. coalition is considering a ground invasion of Syria – and that they plan to participate if the ceasefire fails.

Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi Foreign Minister said action was being considered at last month’s meeting in Brussels.  He accused Syria and Russia of violating the ceasefire by continuing attacks against moderate opposition through airstrikes, according to International Business Times, and claims there is a “Plan B” in place.

Last month al-Jubeir made it clear the Saudi’s want Syrian President Bashar al-Assad removed from power.

“Bashar al-Assad will leave — have no doubt about it. He will either leave by a political process or he will be removed by force,” he told CNN.

Saudi Arabia also has four fighter jets in Turkey and they have coordinated military drills with more than 20 other Arab countries.  The exercise is called “Northern Thunder”, as reported by TRUNEWS.

Syrian officials accuse Saudi Arabia of purposely trying to ruin the peace deal and violating UN Security Council resolution 2268, according to RT.  Syria wants UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to form a committee to make sure all sides hold up their end of the agreement. Russia claims Turkey is undermining the deal by beefing up its military positions on its border with Syria.

International security analyst Sait Yilmaz told Sputnik the ceasefire brokered last month was a “tactical step” by the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar – and its agenda was to buy time.
