Israel’s Tel Aviv Hosts Annual Gay Pride Parade - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) In spite of the immense saturation marketing of evangelical Christians in the US, in the ‘Holy Land’ of Israel, Tel Aviv is hosting one of the largest gay pride parades in the world on the Sabbath day of June 3rd.

The event is a huge deal for Israel, as it generates millions of tourist dollars.  If fact, the event is such a boost to the Tel Aviv economy, that the Israel Ministry of Tourism sponsors the event internationally.  This is the same Israel Ministry of Tourism that markets directly to many evangelical organizations in the US to visit the ‘Holy Land’.  In an excerpt from the description:

Tel Aviv Gay Pride has become one of the biggest events of the year in Tel Aviv with the city’s gay community coming out in force to ensure that they, and the many visitors who come from overseas have a great time and firm up the city’s reputation as the Gay Capital of the Middle East, and perhaps, one of the Gay Capitals of the World. Tel Aviv Gay Pride Week takes place every June, with a surge of gay-friendly events taking place across the city, culminating on the Friday with the famed pride parade. The 2016 Tel Aviv Gay Pride Parade will take place on June 3.

Gay Pride Marches On

Israel is without a doubt the best country in the Middle East for gay and lesbian individuals to live. In addition to the fact that gay people can serve openly in the Israeli military, Israeli governments have been promoting social equality for LGBT people for more than a decade. It should come as no surprise then that Israel’s capital of cool, Tel Aviv, has gained a reputation as one of the world’s top destinations for gay men.

TRUNEWS host Rick Wiles responded to the news of the event on a Jewish day of rest by calling it “Sabbath Sodomy”;

Tel Aviv Proudly Waves It’s ‘Gay Pride’ Flag

Tel Aviv doubles down on promotion of the event and the gay lifestyle in general as it heavily promotes its Five Points of Pride, which include:

Ranked one of the world’s top party cities

Put on your dancing shoes and party until dawn… Ranked by Lonely Planet as one of the world’s top party cities, the hedonistic heaven of Tel Aviv is hip, hot and always ready to party.

Tel Aviv neighborhood included in list of world’s most fashionable and hip neighborhoods

The American magazine Complex wrote that “Tel Aviv is the indisputable fashion capital of Israel, and Florentin is famous for its street fashions.” The neighborhood is also known for its 24-hour nightlife and outdoes dozens of other neighborhoods.

One of the world’s top beach cities

Once again, props to Tel Aviv for being included in National Geographic‘s list of Top Ten Beach Cities. The magazine’s writers and photographers referred to Tel Aviv as “the Dionysian counterpart to religious Jerusalem.”

The smartest and most innovative city in the world

Tel Aviv outflanked New York and London to win the coveted title of the world’s smartest city. At the prestigious Smart City Expo held annually in Barcelona, Tel Aviv beat out 250 other cities to take home the World Smart Cities Award.

Tel Aviv ranked as mecca for vegan food

Tel Aviv recently beat out another nine cities to capture yet another prestigious title: Top Destination for Vegan Travelers, by The Daily Meal. In recent years Tel Aviv’s culinary scene has blossomed, offering delicious and healthy food for all people, including vegans. According to High Life, British Airways’ in-flight magazine, “Almost one in 20 Israelis describes themselves as vegan, a number that feels much higher in the country’s second city.”

Response Among Evangelicals Regarding Israel’s Gay Promotion

With the cultural battle going on in the US between Evangelicals and the LGBT Left, one would think that Christian leaders would be extremely vocal in their condemnation of Israel’s active promotion of homosexuality.  The silence, however, is eerily deafening.  No major Christian group of any status has come out to say anything in opposition to the ‘Holy Land’ and it’s government-financed promotion of gay and lesbian activity.

TRUNEWS has been outspoken in the Israeli government’s continued sponsorship of homosexuality.

The Israel Ministry of Tourism can be seen at many major Christian events, in many cases as sponsors of such events.  You can find the Ministry’s presence at Evangelical events such as The National Religious Broadcaster’s Convention, the Christian Bookseller’s COnvention, and denominational events.

Israel promotes much of its online presence to Evangelicals through its Land of the Bible website.

According to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • In 2013, Christians represented more than half (53%) of all incoming tourists (those staying more than one night), 96% of day visitors and 78% of cruise visitors. In total, over two million Christians visited Israel in 2013, about 60% of the 3.54 million total visitors. Visitors includes one-day and cruise visitors. Tourists refers to those staying more than one night.
  • Of these Christian tourists, about a half were Catholic (49%); 20% were Protestants (the majority Evangelical ); 28% were Orthodox (mainly Russian Orthodox) and 7% were from other Christian denominations.
  • About a million (40%) of these Christian tourists defined themselves as pilgrims; about 30% said they were in Israel for sight-seeing and touring and the remainder for other reasons.
