Cruz claims Trump supported ‘Gang of Eight’ immigration - from TRUNEWS

GOP presidential contenders Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have claimed rival Donald Trump supported the 2013 “Gang of Eight” immigration bill. They are calling for Trump to release the audio of his interview with the New York Times to “clear it up”.

The frontrunner apparently had a conversation with the news organization in January where he explained he might be more flexible on immigration than he has indicated in his campaign, according to Buzzfeed.

At a rally in San Antonio, Cruz demanded Trump have the comments released before the Super Tuesday primary.

Cruz said Trump gave $50,000 in support of the “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill, as reported by Breitbart.

“That tape can clear it up, and the voters deserve to know if he says something different when he’s talking to The New York Times than when he’s talking to the voters, and we deserve to know before Super Tuesday,” said Cruz.

Rubio said publically at a campaign rally in Arkansas that Trump should have the audio released so “we can see exactly what it is he believes about this issue he’s made the cornerstone of his campaign.”

Interestingly, Rubio was one of the “Gang of Eight” members who introduced legislation in Congress in 2013 that would have paved a path to citizenship for illegal aliens already in the U.S.
