(TRUNEWS) – A wealthy Texas teenager, who’d been the subject of a manhunt after breaking his probation sentence for killing four people while driving drunk, has been apprehended, according to police.
18-year-old Ethan Couch, also known as the “affluenza” teen, was serving a ten year probation sentence for manslaughter after the 2013 incident.
Couch and his mother, Tonya, vanished earlier this month; the teenager was subsequently placed on the Tarrant County Most Wanted list and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
A psychologist speculated during Couch’s trial that he was so wealthy and spoiled that he could not tell between right and wrong, giving Couch the “affluenza” nickname.
A report from CNN says the pair were captured in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Couch is expected to be turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service. At the age of 16, Couch had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when he struck a stranded motorist on the siad of a roadway as well as three Good Samaritans who had stopped to help.
