At least 11 people are dead in the Dallas suburbs after a deadly tornado outbreak Saturday night. There are 23 reported injuries from the storm system that spawned 11 tornadoes.
Several of the deaths are believed to have happened to motorists.
The Dallas County Health and Human Services Director described the scene as looking like a war zone, according to KDFW.
More than 600 buildings have been damaged.
The system started Ellis County and moved northeast through the Dallas County cities of Garland and Rowlett, killing 8. Three people died in Copeville and Blue Ridge, in Collin County.
Experts will assess the damage today. It is believed the storms were EF3 or EF4.
It is the latest in several tornadoes that have hit the mid-section of the country, at a time of year when these types of storms rarely occur.
