Chattanooga shooter said he wanted to be martyr in disturbing diary - from TRUNEWS

Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez’s diary reveals he had suicidal thoughts and was set on “becoming a martyr,” according to a family rep.

Federal investigators have not immediately not found any direct link between Abdulazeez and overseas terrorists, but a journal the gunman kept since 2013 shed light on his spree.

He wrote about suicidal thoughts and “becoming a martyr,” a family rep told ABC News. Abdulazeez fell into financial ruin after losing his job due to drug use, according to the family representative said.

Abdulazeez abused sleeping pills, opioids, painkillers, marijuana and booze, his family said.

The 24-year-old took great pride in his rented silver Mustang and brought friends on a late night joy ride on Tuesday night.

“He bragged about [the car], and was showing it off to friends about how fast it would go,” the family representative said Sunday.
