Alabama Town Pushes Back Against Target LGBT Toilet Agenda - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) A courageous city council in Oxford, Alabama is standing up to retail giant Target regarding the corporation’s LGBT policy change of letting transgenders use any toilet of their choice.

On Tuesday evening, the city council passed the common sense law that the use of public restrooms should be determined by the gender listed on his or her birth certificate.

Violators would be find $500, and applies to all area in the Oxford city limits and those areas under the municipal police jurisdiction.

Council President Steven Waits said that the law was to protect women and children, not the 0.3% of the population who identify as transgender.

Target made the public statement last week:

“Inclusivity is a core belief at Target. It’s something we celebrate. We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day. We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity. Everyone deserves to feel like they belong. You’ll always be accepted, respected and welcomed at Target.”

The statement has generated a passionate response, especially among evangelical Christians. An online petition demanding common sense change in the policy has currently generated over 700.000 signatures.

The city council noted exceptions to the law, such as adults being allowed to accompany children under the age of 12 into the restroom, those who need to do janitorial or maintenance work, to offer emergency medical assistance, or to assist the disabled, likewise are permitted.
