China test fires missile capable of hitting U.S. - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) China has fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile that is capable of traveling more than 7,400 miles – and can hit the U.S.

Officials from the Pentagon told the Washington Free Beacon the test took place Tuesday.

Kanwa Asian Defense reported recently the new ICBM can be deployed near Xinyang in Henan province and could strike the U.S. in about 30 minutes traveling over the Pacific or by a polar trajectory. The missile is larger than other road-mobile units and the new submarine-launched ballistic missile.

The build-up is part of the continued posturing between China and the U.S. over the artificial islands in the South China Sea.

“China is re-engineering its long-range ballistic missiles to carry multiple nuclear warheads,” said Adm. Cecil Haney, U.S. Strategic Command commander.

Officials have accused China of slowly trying to take over the South China Sea, which could threaten $5.3 trillion in trade, as ships pass through the international waters there, as reported by TRUNEWS. China claims the water as their territory too.

Defense Secretary Ash Carter says the new ‘Hack the Pentagon’ bounty program is an innovative way to test the nation’s military protection.

Right around the time of the test, Chinese Gen. Fan Changlong visited Fiery Cross Reef in the Spratly Islands.  It also happened just before Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s visit to the USS Stennis aircraft carrier in the area.

A U.S.  military affairs analyst, Rick Fisher believes China will dramatically increase the number of warheads in its arsenal and will refurbish older, single warheads.

He also disagreed with the Obama administration policy of reducing nuclear weapons, claiming the effort “is not going to be reciprocated by China, Russia, North Korea or Iran”.

Fisher believes the U.S. should expand its warhead stockpile.

“China and Russia are increasingly coordinating their military forces against the Unites States and that China’s program of enabling north Korea and Iran to become nuclear missile powers is nearing completion,” he said.
