Anti-Christian views pushed in children’s textbooks in Pakistan - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) Pakistan public schools are teaching children that Christians are inferior and less trustworthy than Muslims.

A report called “Teaching Intolerance in Pakistan: Religious Bias in Public School Textbooks” claims 41 million Pakistani children are coached at an early age to believe that Christians and other religious minorities are violent, according to Breitbart, and that they should not be treated equally.

“Public shaming begins at a very young age,” the report said. In particular, Christians and Hindus are “nefarious, violent, and tyrannical by nature.”

Christian children are taught that peace was learned from Muslims.

The study was sponsored by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and a non-governmental group in Pakistan dedicated to promoting peace, called the Peace and Education Foundation.

“Pakistan’s public school textbooks contain deeply troubling content that portrays non-Muslim citizens as outsiders, unpatriotic, and inferior; are filled with errors; and present widely-disputed historical ‘facts’ as settled history,” said Robert George, the USCIRF chairman.

This report was released Tuesday, just a few weeks after a jihadist set off a suicide bomb at a park in Lahore on Easter, killing more than 70 people. A division of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility and said they were specifically targeting Christians.

The report also showed the textbooks have become more anti-Christian over the years.

Despite the growing trend, Pakistan has not been placed on the U.S. State Department’s list of Countries of Particular Concern.  The International Religious Freedom Act calls for the president to add countries to that list ever year if they have “engaged in or tolerated particularly severe violations of religious freedom”.
