Sidewalk chalk statements are becoming popular at colleges and universities. Last week, TRUNEWS reported on “Trump 2016” being written in chalk at Emory University.
Now the phrase “#Stop Islam” is popping up at the University of Michigan, according to MLive.
The school is reacting strongly, calling it an attack on a group.
“We are fully committed to fostering an environment that is welcoming and inclusive of everyone,” said the university in a statement.
Some students are lashing out at the university for not washing away the chalk.
“This is reflective of the deep racism embedded in our university,” said student Banen Al-Sheemary, to Detroit Free Press.
Other phrases found written in chalk include “Build the Wall” and “Stop the Rape of Europe”, according to Detroit Free Press. On New Year’s Eve, there were massive numbers of sexual assaults against women in Germany at the hands of Muslim immigrants, as reported by TRUNEWS.
Witnesses claim they saw the messages being written by a small group of students, both male, and female.
The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) wants the students to protest the sidewalk chalk etchings, claiming it could make people feel “unsafe on campus”.
CAIR, which claims to “promote a positive image of Islam” has been called a terrorist group. The United Arab Emirates, which is a Muslim country has listed CAIR as a terrorist organization.
