German Afd party under fire for denouncing Islam - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) Germany’s AfD party has come under fire for comments about Islam being incompatible with the country’s values.

Deputy leader Beatrix von Storch said Islam “is a political ideology that is incompatible with the German constitution”.   Her party reportedly wants to ban Islamic symbols, including face veils.

Alexander Gauland, another AfD deputy leader warned “Islam is not a religion like Catholic or Protestant Christianity but intellectually always associated with the takeover of the state”.

The party is growing in popularity, having gained a lot of ground in the recent elections, as reported by TRUNEWS.

AfD has been openly critical of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s refugee policy, which has allowed more than a million migrants into the country. Her party plans to adopt an anti-Islamic manifesto at an upcoming conference, according to AFP.

The head of Central Council of Muslims of Germany, Aiman Nazyek told NDR the AfD was trying to “ride a wave of Islamophobia”.

“It is the first time since Hitler’s Germany that there is a party which discredits and existentially threatens an entire religious community,” he said.

The secretary general of the Council of Europe, Thorbjorn Jagland agreed, saying the statements made by the AfD members were “contrary to European values”.

Germany has experienced a dramatic in crime since the refugees started pouring in. To respond to the crisis and to critics, the German government has unveiled a plan to integrate Muslims.

On Thursday, Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union and Bavarian Christian Social Union party agreed to link migrant benefits with a willingness to learn the language and integrate into German society.

The idea was blasted by the Turkish community in German group (TGD), according to Breitbart.
