(TRUNEWS) A teenager in Melbourne, Australia will soon stand trial for conspiring to paint the ISIS symbol on a kangaroo, and then pack the animal with bombs and set it loose to ambush police officers. A preliminary hearing was held Wednesday.
Sevdet Ramadan Basim was arrested last year, according to RT, in a foiled plot planned for Anzac Day.
Every year on April 25, a commemoration is held for people who have served and died in wars and during peacekeeping operations. Originally the day was used to honor Australian soldiers and New Zealand Army Corps members who fought against the Ottoman Empire in World War I.
On April 18 law enforcement conducted raids on the homes of five teenagers, including Basim. Several others were also charged, including a 15-year-old British boy, who was sentenced in October. His name was not released because of his age, but he received a life sentence.
Meanwhile, Australia has cracked down on ISIS supporters. Last month the country decided to remove citizenship from all people who leave the country to fight with the group, even if they have not been found guilty in court.
Officials believe there are 100 Australians currently fighting and most hold dual citizenship, as reported by The Express.
