(TRUNEWS) The FBI claims a decision on whether to file charges against Hillary Clinton could come later this year, and that it is not unusual for this type of investigation to take a long time.
The former assistant director of the criminal investigative division told The Hill he doesn’t know of any “magical cutoff date”.
Leaders in the Democratic party are concerned about the election, and the impact an indictment could have on her campaign.
The investigation started after it was discovered Clinton used a private email address and server when she was Secretary of State. Classified information could have gotten into the wrong hands. Clinton claimed she did it out of “convenience” and that classified information was not sent.
The FBI also has a probe into whether money donated to the Clinton Foundation was misused, according to Fox News.
James Comey, head of the FBI told a congressional committee the inquiry would be honest and that he didn’t care about politics.
Republicans are concerned charges won’t be filed, even if evidence of wrong doing is found. Democrats have accused the GOP of playing partisan games.
Former House Majority leader Tom Delay told Newsmax earlier this week his sources in the FBI claim an indictment is coming soon, and that if Attorney General Loretta Lynch doesn’t follow the agency’s recommendation, they will go public.
