(TRUNEWS) – In Chicago, a white police officer has been charged with murder in the 2014 shooting of a black teenager.
The charges come one day before the officer’s dashboard camera video is set to be released showing the teen being shot 16 times.
Chicago mayor Rahm Emmanuel issuing a plea for calm, but police authorities say they are preparing for possible protests.
Officer Jason Van Dyke is being denied bail after first-degree murder charges were announced.

The city has already given McDonald’s family a five million dollar civil settlement even though a lawsuit wasn’t filed.
The police union saying that releasing the video will taint a potential jury; the city said it would not appeal the judge’s order in light of the charges filed against Van Dyke. The officer saying through his lawyer that he felt threatened by McDonald, who was holding a knife.
