Russian President Vladimir Putin wants oil smuggling into Turkey by ISIS to be a top concern for leaders.
During a meeting with French President Francois Hollande, Putin said there is an oil pipeline stretching from ISIS controlled areas in Syria into Turkey, according to RT News. He claims the pipeline can be seen from the air.
Last week at the G20 summit, Putin accused 40 countries of helping finance ISIS.
Turkish authorities have denied the charge, with President Tayyip Erdogan labeling Russia’s claim as slander. He has also refused to investigate if ISIS oil smuggling routes go into Turkey.
In recent days, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev accused Turkey of having a financial interest in oil trade with ISIS, claiming some officials in Ankara have benefited. Turkish social
media has posted pictures of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s son having dinner with an alleged ISIS leader.
