Obama’s Obsession with Denying a Third Term - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) President Obama has once again publicly denied any intent to run for a third presidential term.

In an interview with CBS, reporter Lee Cowan asked Obama, “if you could run for a third term, would?”

Obama responded by saying no, and said “number one, Michelle wouldn’t let me, this is a big sacrifice and a great privilege, but it takes a toll on family life. This is a process in which the office should be continually renewed by new energy and new ideas and new insights.”

Obama continued by saying, “although I think I am as good of a president as I’ve ever been right now, I also think that there comes a point where you don’t have fresh legs, and that’s when you start making mistakes or that’s when you start thinking that you are what’s important as opposed to the mission being more important.”

This is not the first time in recent years that Obama and his supporters have made innocuous references toward him circumventing the 22nd amendment, which places a two term limit on U.S. presidents.

In 2014, an Economist/YouGov poll found that 39% of Democrats actually wished the 22nd Amendment was repealed, so Obama could run for a third term.

The issue once again made headlines in March of 2015, when students attending a female basketball game at Princeton, began chanting “four more years, fours more years!” Obama, who was attending the game to watch his niece play, sat laughing in the stands, eventually signaling a ‘throat slash’ gesture for the crowd to knock it off.

During his speech in Africa last july, Obama brought up the issue himself, by saying “I actually think I’m a pretty good president, I think if I ran, I could win. But I can’t. So there’s a lot that I’d like to do to keep America moving, but the law is the law.”

These statements could be taken purely as jest, but Obama has developed a dense track record during his presidency, of deliberately circumventing the constraints of the U.S. Constitution, to include his openhanded use of executive orders, Obamacare, and enforcing a secular redefinition of marriage.

In addition to his executive overreaches, other evidence for concern is the new Authorization of Military Force (AUMF) measure being fast tracked through the Senate, which places Obama one step closer to having the legal ability to deploy the U.S. Military anywhere in the world, to include U.S. Cities under states of emergency.
