Swine flu epidemic strikes Eastern Ukraine - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) Swine flu has killed a dozen people in Eastern Ukraine, and 51 in other parts of the country. Now people are swarming the pharmacies, trying to pick up masks and supplies, but the anti-viral Tamiflu is in short supply.  Even the hospitals are out.

The participants of the Ministers' Cabinet session wear masks as they listen to Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in Ternopil in western Ukraine October 30, 2009. Ukraine closed schools and banned public meetings including election rallies and restricted travel on Friday for a three-week period after confirming its first death from H1N1 flu. “Unfortunately, we do not have it at the hospital. That’s why patients have to buy it themselves,” said Dr. Elena Baun in a Reuter’s interview. Schools have been closed all week so officials can try to contain the outbreak. The virus is also hitting Russia, Armenia and Kazakhstan.

Witnessing to All Nations
Then He continued by saying to them, “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. “But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake.
– Luke 21: 10-12

In an era of regulatory apathy, agricultural terrorism, and reckless biological testing we may never know when a disease may strike our community. Other than praying to God for protection , we should also do our best to prepare before hand with appropriate provisions such as  antibiotics and anti viral medication, which naturally sky rocket in price and scarcity during an epidemic.
