(TRUNEWS) Iran is being accused of building an international terror network through sleeper cells.
They are reportedly stockpiling arms, intelligence and operatives that are ready to strike Europe and the U.S., according to Times of Israel.
Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon accuses Tehran of wanting to destabilize the Middle East, calling them the anchor of a “dangerous axis”, which he said also includes Damascus, Baghdad, Beirut and Saana.
Israel believes Iran is the biggest threat to the region, especially since they support other groups like Hezbollah and Hamas. They believe Iran is using the power vacuum in Syria to their advantage by setting up cells that could potentially attack Israel from Golan Heights.
“We are in the midst of a war between cultures. In a certain sense, this is a third world war, in a different manner from what we have known,” he said, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Ya’alon was in Cypress this week, meeting with his counterpart. A few years ago officials there sentenced Hezbollah member Hussein Massam Abdallah to six years in prison after he revealed the terror group had planned attacks against Israeli interests in Cypress, according to Israel National News.
The nuclear deal with Iran is helping to fund their cause. In July Iran and six nations agreed to the lifting of economic sanctions against Tehran, in exchange for a promise by Iran to curb their nuclear program.
