(TRUNEWS) The Russian military command is spying on Turkey from the air in Syria.
Even though the airspace between Turkey and Syria has been closed, the Russians get timely information using their intelligence aircraft, according to Arutz Sheva, which just arrived at Latakia air base in Syria.
The plane contains state of the art optical imaging and radar systems capable of tracking military movement for hundreds of miles, without moving into Turkish airspace. The radar may also intercept radio communications as reported by Russia Beyond the Headlines.
Objects underneath the ground, hidden in sand or covered with snow can also be detected.
In recent days, there has been suspicion Turkey plans to send ground troops into Syria. They have already shelled Syrian Kurds in Syria, claiming they are a terror group.
Russian-Turkish relations started breaking down late last year, when Turkey shot down a Russian warplane, claiming it was in its airspace. Moscow claims the plane was in Syria. Both countries have different opinions about the outcome of the Syrian war. Russia wants President Bashar al-Assad to remain in power and Turkey wants him removed.
Many world leaders, including officials in the European Union, have expressed concern about escalating tensions between the two countries, as reported by TRUNEWS.
