Leader of Scotland’s largest mosque praises jihadist killer - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) The spiritual leader of Glasgow’s Central Mosque, Habib ur Rehman, has been caught praising the jihadist killer of Salman Taseer, the governor of Punjab who had defended the rights of Christians being persecuted by India’s blasphemy laws.

Rahman made his praises last month to a private group from his congregation through the mobile messenger program WhatsApp.  He called the killer, Mumtaz Qadri, a “true Muslim” and compared his actions to that of the French resistance against the Nazis during World War II.

In response to an anonymous participant in the group chat calling Qadri a murderer, Rahman responded with the message:

“Yes, according to some he was a murderer but to many others he did what was the collective responsibility of the unmat. Just when France was occupied by Nazies, French did all they had to in order to protect their national heroes. Hanging Mumtaz Qadri has raised serious questions about Pakistan’s independence.”

Rahman added:

“The issue is not of an individual. The issue is of national identity and Islamic spirit. The fact that the nation chose to settle the issue of Reymond Davis by forcing the victims’ relatives [Mumtaz Qadri not Salman Taseer] to accept the blood money, and sending Mumtaz chai to gallows is a source of grief and immense pain. I cannot hide my pain today. A true Muslim was punished for doing which the collective will of the nation failed to carry out.”

In a statement responding to the leaked message, Rehman said:

“The assassination of Salman Taseer is and was widely condemned. As the former acting Governor of Punjab and as a private individual, his freedoms and rights should have been respected, in particular his right to life and his right to face due process. Personal views about his conduct are irrelevant. Whether I agree or disagree with the views he expressed, as an Imam and as a human being I express abhorrence at the manner in which he was executed and convey sympathy for his family. The execution was not in accordance with Islamic teachings and principles. Similarly, Mumtaz Qadri’s execution is condemned as it is not in accordance with due process nor is it in accordance with Islamic teachings and principles. The selective messages disclosed to you by an unauthorized third party have been misconstrued and taken out of context. Capital punishment on this particular occasion was inappropriate and any expressions of sympathy or compassion are relevant to that disposal and are extended in my capacity as a private individual and not in any professional or public capacity. As far as I am concerned, the matter is a private issue and freedom of expression and criticism of the judicial process in Pakistan are relevant features.”

JIHADIST ‘RELIGION OF PEACE’

Though Rehman denied his comments were extreme, his defense of the murderer speaks lengths about the mindset of the Muslim community in Glasgow.

This mindset was further exposed by the religiously motivated hate crime which occurred on the streets of Glasgow Friday.

Shop keeper Asad Shah was found seriously injured in the street Thursday night and died later in the hospital.

Shah — who was a devout Muslim — had posted a heartfelt Easter message on Facebook just hours before he was attacked. It read:

“Good Friday and a very Happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation… Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ and get the real success in both worlds.”

An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, told the Daily Record,  “As I drove past I saw two men standing over the victim. One was stamping on his head. There was a pool of blood on the ground. It was horrific.”

The police have said they believe this to be a religiously motivated hate crime.

Based on the Iman’s comments, this latest attack and the bombings which rocked Brussels Tuesday, Western society must seriously begin asking if Islam — the supposed “religion of peace”— isn’t actually a barbaric medieval cult in disguise.
