North Korea warning its residents of impending famine - from TRUNEWS

North Korea is warning its residents to be ready to “chew roots of plants” as famine may be approaching.

A state-run newspaper has claimed another “Arduous March” could be coming, according to Daily Mail. It is referring to a term used to describe the massive starvation in the 1990’s, which caused 3.5 million deaths.

During that time, the words “hunger” and “famine” were prohibited from use because it could potentially suggest that Kim Jong-un’s father, Kim Jong-Il and grandfather Kim Il-Sung were responsible. Now the state-run news is quoting officials as stating North Koreans are not allowed to blame leader Kim Jong-un for the impending crisis.

“Even if we give up our lives, we should continue to show our loyalty to our leader, Kim Jong-un, until the end of our lives,” said Rodong Sinmun, a government spokesperson, as reported by The Telegraph.

All residents must now provide 2.2 pounds of rice to the state every month.  The hoarding of food has already begun.

Recently China, which has had some ties with North Korea, has agreed to new UN sanctions against the country.  The sanctions are an attempt to force the regime to stop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles tests, which have increased dramatically this year. TRUNEWS has reported extensively on it.

CNN reports that all planes and ships carrying cargo will now be inspected.  Exports of natural resources are banned, including coal, which brings $1 billion into North Korea every year. The selling of aviation fuel to North Korea is prohibited.

In recent days, North Korea has lashed out against South Korea and the U.S., as reported by TRUNEWS, and has threatened a nuclear strike to the U.S. mainland.

President Obama will meet with leaders of South Korea and Japan Thursday to discuss the possibility of North Korean President Kim Jong-un starting a war.
