North Korea tests missile despite UN sanctions - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) North Korea has launched a “pop-up” test of the developmental submarine-launched ballistic missile from a canister at the Sinpo shipyard.

It happened last week amid increased tensions in the region, according to The Washington Free Beacon. Five short-range ballistic missiles were fired Monday, which brought about the news of last week’s test.

The KN-11 is being developed along with a missile-firing sub along North Korea’s east coast, which is in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.   On March 5 the group increased economic sanctions on North Korea to block their nuclear arms and missiles ambitions.

In November, they tried an underwater flight test of the KN-11 but the launching submarine was damaged during the attempt.

In January, North Korea tested an H-bomb, as reported by TRUNEWS. Last week they claimed to have miniature nuclear warheads that can be mounted on ballistic missiles.

They have also tested missiles this year, to the ire of the U.S. and South Korea.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has threatened ‘preemptive’ strikes against both countries.  He is angry over joint military exercises in South Korea. Pyongyang has also expressed opposition to Un sanctions.

The South Korean President warned Monday the North could carry out additional provocations.

The U.S. military has stepped up monitoring North Korea. There are indications they could test the KN-08 road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile or the intermediate-range Musudan missile. Another underground nuclear test is also possible.

TRUNEWS has reported on North Korea’s ability to hit the U.S. mainland, confirmed by the testimony of U.S. Northern Command Commander William Gortney who testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
