Expert believes North Korea on brink of collapse - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) The former U.S. Forces Korea commander believes North Korea is on the brink of collapse “sooner than many of us think”.

Retired Gen. Walter Sharp appeared a symposium for the Association of the U.S. Army’s Institute of Land Warfare. The increased posturing by Pyonyang – the uptick in missile launches and nuclear tests has experts concerned, as reported by Stars and Stripes.

Sharp said, though, the situation will soon change.

“First off, I believe there will be strong provocations, strong attacks by North Korea that could quickly escalate into a much bigger conflict,” Sharp said. “Secondly, there will be instability in North Korea that I believe will lead to the collapse of North Korea much sooner than many of us think.”

The experts believe only one more major catastrophe will push the nation over the edge. They have dealt with several famines, drought, poor medical care and an onslaught of sanctions from the United Nations.

“I could see a role for the United Nations along the border between what is now North Korea and China, doing border control there, perhaps with China as the lead of that UN command up there,” he said.

President Obama and other experts seem more concerned, as reported by TRUNEWS. He told an audience at the G7 Summit that North Korea poses a “medium term threat”

He claims there have been discussions with China on how they can help quell the problem.

Others think the US could devastate North Korea with just a limited military strike, according to Stratfor, due to the fact Pyongyang cannot defend itself or detect a U.S. B-52 bomber or an F-22 tactical fighter.
