Terrorists could have used EgyptAir flight 804 as test run - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) No one has claimed responsibility yet for the downing of EgyptAir Flight 804.

Even though foul play has not been determined, usually by now a terror group has made a statement.

Experts believe there are four possible explanations for what caused the jet to crash into the Mediterranean while heading from Greek into Egyptian airspace.  Some of the theories include mechanical malfunctions, an intentional crash or a bomb, according to CNN.

The black boxes are still missing.

Some of the initial reports are being refuted. At first, Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos said the aircraft swerved dramatically before taking a nose dive. But, Egypt’s National Air Navigation Services Company claims it isn’t true.

Officials from France said the automated system sent messages about smoke in the front of the plane just before the crash, but that doesn’t always mean there was a fire.

The jet disappeared last week en route from Paris to Cairo.  It was at 37,000 feet when it lost contact with controllers, as reported by TRUNEWS.  There were 66 people on board.

Experts claim terror groups usually take responsibility, but if they don’t it could point to something more ominous – that the jihadists won’t say anything because it was a test run to a bigger plot planned for the future.

It would not be the first time this has happened, according to CNBC. In 1994, Philippines Airlines Flight 434 went down, without a claim of responsibility.

“Because the planners hoped to use an improved version of the same device in a larger attack targeting 10 trans-Pacific airliners,” according to a statement from Stratfor, a research firm.

The incident spawned the idea of using chemicals to blow up planes.

“If they have something that’s new, they don’t want to reveal that until they pull off something spectacular,” said Stratfor Vice President Scott Stewart.

The Pan Am Flight 103 massacre over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988.  It took authorities three years to link Libyan terrorists to the attack.
