The head security of TSA has been ejected.
Kelly Hoggan was let go amid mounting troubles with the Transportation Security Administration, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, according to USA Today. Last weekend, about 500 travelers were stranded at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport because the security lines were so long the people missed their flights. They had to sleep on cots.
Over the past few weeks, long lines have been reported in many major airports. The number of travelers is on the rise, but there are fewer screeners.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing earlier this month, where it was revealed Hoggan had been paid more than $181,000 a year and received $90,000 in bonuses in 2014.
According to the CNN, the privatization of airport security was enacted after 9-11 because the government hoped nationalizing airport security would offer better protections against terror.
An internal TSA investigation conducted last year showed undercover agents were able to get weapons and banned items through the screening process 95 percent of the time.
The program costs billions. The budget is $7.4 billion and there are warehouses full of screening equipment that is not being used.
Low morale has been reported among employees, which may reignite the idea to go back to privatizing security. Studies show private screeners are more efficient and can better to detect threats.
