Illegal asylum seekers from terror hot spots have found a loophole to stay in the U.S.
According to Fox News, migrants from Egypt, Somalia, Pakistan, Iran and Syria will claim a “credible fear of persecution” to avoid being deported. In the past, before President Obama was elected, the U.S. would hold them until their stories were checked out and resolved in court. Now they are allowed to roam free.
Congress obtained this information and some members are concerned.
“These numbers illustrate vulnerabilities throughout our immigration system,” said Rep. Ron DeSantis, (R-Fla.). “Dangerous criminals and potential terrorists are gaming the system without consequence. The Obama administration is compromising our national security and safety for its political agenda.”
DeSantis will hold a House Subcommittee on National Security hearing on Wednesday. Some of the witnesses include Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council and Ronald Vitiello, acting chief of the U.S. Border Patrol.
Judd testified previously and claimed the illegals have found another loophole – by claiming they arrived before January 2014 when President Obama announced his enforcement “priorities”.
The “priorities” mandate ordered agents to only worry about criminals and people who came to the U.S. after that date, as reported by TRUNEWS.
DeSantis is also speaking out about jihadists coming to the U.S. without visas.
“The visa waiver reform, this is something we have been perusing — and the administration has brushed us off at every turn,” he told The Washington Free Beacon.
He said the current waiver program does not require extensive background checks for people traveling from terror hotspots. He cited Belgium as an example.
There is also no oversight once people get here, as many overstay their visas and just disappear in the U.S.
