(TRUNEWS) Officials in Belgium were warned by Israel about numerous security problems at Brussels airport a week before Tuesday’s terror attack.
Several Israeli security experts were asked to review safety measures at several international airports, according to Times of Israel. Israel’s Channel 2 reported “significant shortcomings” in Belgium.
The task was assigned in response to the country’s lax immigration policies and numerous warnings about impending terror attacks, as reported by TRUNEWS.

Israeli Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz criticized Belgium Wednesday for failing to deal with rising terrorism.
He said law enforcement there was too busy “eating chocolate and enjoying life” to deal with jihadists and predicted Brussels would not be able to fight terror.
France’s Finance Minister Michel Sapin echoed the same thoughts and accused his country’s northern neighbor of being ignorant.
In addition to setting off bombs in the subway and at the airport, the terrorists also planned to kidnap a senior Belgian nuclear official, according to the NBC, but that effort did not come to pass.
Ibrahim and Khalid El Bakaroui planted a camera in the bushes outside of the home of the man last year. They later recovered the footage, which was obtained by law enforcement officials during a raid of another ISIS terrorist’s home.
“The terrorist cell … naively believed they could use him to penetrate a lab to obtain nuclear material to make a dirty bomb,” said Moniquet, CEO of the European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center.
Since Tuesday, staff has been drastically reduced at nuclear plants. Access for several workers has been revoked.
