(TRUNEWS) The Delta County School District in Colorado will soon distribute Satanic literature to students in middle and high school. The move is in response to complaints by The Freedom from Religion Foundation, Western Colorado Atheists and Freethinkers and the Satanic Temple who complained about schools giving out Bibles.
Assistant Superintendent Kurt Clay claims if the Boy Scouts and 4H are allowed to distribute materials, the district must allow students to be given all types of information, according to Breitbart.
“The policy says we cannot discriminate what is handed out, we just have to follow the process,” he said.
The only exceptions are that the publications cannot promote illegal behavior, drug use, pornography, violence or advertise products for sale.
On April 1 the atheist groups will distribute brochures which will include “Top 10 Public School State-Church Violations and How to Stop Them”, “What’s Wrong with the Ten Commandments, and “The Satanic Children’s Big Book of Activities”.
Some parents are outraged, according to KJCT.
The Western Colorado Atheist Freethinkers claim their real agenda is to get the policy to change to “separate religion and schools”.
The school district has already said they are considering revising their policy.
Early last year Orange County schools in Florida ditched plans to hand out Bibles after atheist groups threatened to respond by handing out Satanic literature, according to WFTV.
