Priest in Yemen could be crucified by ISIS on Good Friday - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) The life of a Catholic priest is believed to be in danger as Good Friday approaches.

Father Tom Uzhunnalil was kidnapped March 4 by jihadists during an attack on an old people’s home in Aden, Yemen.  Several people were killed including four nuns, according to the Daily Mirror.

One of the survivors blamed ISIS.  Sister Sally said that she hid when the killers stormed the building. The victims were tied to trees and then beaten and shot.

Reports on social media by the South African based Franciscan Sisters of Siessen claim Uzhunnalil is being tortured and will be crucified on Good Friday.

“This calls for serious concerted prayers from all of us,” said the post.

Uzhunnalil’s order, based in India, claimed they have not heard anything about a crucifixion and refused to say where he may be or if he is alive.

The crucifixion claims came about when an unverified email was received, according to Father Mathew Valarkot from the Salesian Church, which is Uzhunnalil’s order.

The order has put pressure on the government to help find the priest and the Vatican has stepped in to help.

Aden has become increasingly unstable in the past year during Yemen’s Civil War.  Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes last March against the Iranian-supported Houthi rebels, as reported by TRUNEWS.  The conflict began over the election of the Western-backed president.  There are al-Qaeda and ISIS factions in the area which has created more chaos.
