Chick-Fil-A expands in NYC but mayor wants a boycott - from TRUNEWS

(TRUNEWS) New York Mayor Bill De Blasio is calling for a boycott on Chick-Fil-A, even as residents of his city suffer from layoffs.

In the past four weeks, more than 21 large New York companies have announced they are handing out pink slips due to economic reasons, as reported by The Daily Caller. Seven are going out of business.  Some of the companies scaling back include AIG, Goldman Sachs and Sears.

But De Blasio seems more concerned about political correctness, calling for people not to eat at Chick-Fil-A because he claims the company has “anti-LGBT” views.

“I’m certainly not going to patronize them and I wouldn’t urge any other New Yorker to patronize them,” he said, according to Washington Free Beacon.

Councilman Daniel Dromm accused the company of spreading a “message of hate”, according to the Times Ledger.

Chick-Fil-A has more than 80,000 employees. Hundreds are employed in Manhattan. The first store was opened in 2015. Another opened last month. More franchises will be opened in the near future.

“The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect—regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender,” a spokeswoman said.

In 2012, Chick-Fil-A owner Dan Cathy said he believed marriage is between a man and a woman.
