The president of Afghanistan is promising to stop the sexual abuse of boys by the Afghan army.
In recent days it has come to light commanders in the Afghan military have engaged in relations with the young boys. The practice has come to be an accepted and widespread practice, and has been documented for years by human rights groups.
In 2011 the U.S. military reported the issue of raping boys could cause tensions with Afghan troops. So, the issue was largely ignored, according to soldiers and marines who served there.
A recent story published in The New York Times reported two U.S. soldiers assaulted an Afghan commander who laughed when he was accused of raping boys. One of the soldiers was relieved of his duties and other was forced out.
Another man, George Buckley, Sr. has spoken out t in recent days because his son was killed by a male sex slave kept by an Afghan militia commander. Buckley claims he was told by his son the soldiers could hear the children screaming, but were not allowed to help.
