Iran has bought $21 billion in aircrafts and satellites from Russia.
The two nations strengthened their ties when a group of Iranian government officials visited the MAKS-2015 air show where an agreement to make the purchase was signed. Iranian officials told Sputnik news that the “large share” of the contracts were for “passenger aircraft.”
However, the deal mentioned military aircraft and a series of Russian rocket carriers that would carry satellites into orbit.
Iran and Russia also announced that they will begin a joint aircraft engine production platform.
Iranian officials say the deal will be completed “around” the time that cash assets frozen in western nations are released as part of the Iranian nuclear deal.
