Lawmakers Try To Avoid Govt Shutdown - from TRUNEWS

Now it begins on Capitol Hill; the scramble to get legislation passed in order to prevent the government from another shutdown as it runs out of money.

Congressional Republicans introducing bills to keep the wheels turning and dealing with conservative leaders’ demands to drain Planned Parenthood of federal funding after leaked videos show staffers engaging in the illegal and highly offensive business practice of selling fetal tissue for profit.

Republican plans to use an extension bill to cut off the group’s funding were shot down in the Senate, and that may well clear a path for a measure retaining funding for Planned Parenthood through December 11th.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans a procedural vote for Monday, that’s two days before the end of the federal fiscal year.

Speaker of the House John Boehner is crafting a measure behind closed doors with Republican conservatives, who are set against any spending bill that gives Planned Parenthood any more federal funds. Planned Parenthood has continually denied any wrongdoing.
