Doctor Expelled from Hospital for Not Supporting Homosexuality - from TRUNEWS

A urologist has been suspended from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for writing that list the health dangers of homosexual activity and because he stood up for his Christian faith on the issue.

Dr. Paul Church, a faculty member at Harvard Medical School, has spent the last decade expressing concern to hospital staff and leaders over their promotion of homosexuality and homosexual promotion events.  He said that the hospital should not be promoting lifestyles that counter the goals of the healthcare community.

Pro-gay staffers say that his comments are “offensive” and amount to “discrimination and harassment.”

“The evidence is irrefutable that behaviors common within the homosexual community are unhealthy and high risk for a host of serious medical consequences, including STD’s, HIV and AIDS, anal cancer, hepatitis, parasitic intestinal infections, and psychiatric disorders,” Church reportedly posted on an internal hospital portal.

“Life expectancy is significantly decreased as a result of HIV/AIDS, complications from the other health problems, and suicide. This alone should make it reprehensible to the medical community, who has an obligation to promote and model healthy behaviors and lifestyles.”

A peer review committee told Dr. Church in 2011 to stop providing his opinion about sexual orientation.  Church then asked to be removed from the hospital’s emails promoting gay pride events and other pro-gay gatherings.  The hospital refused to do so.

A panel has upheld the expulsion of Dr. Church for “unsolicited views about homosexuality that were offensive to BIDMC Staff” and “violating” the hospital’s discrimination policy.  Church has one last chance to save his position, when the hospital’s board of directors votes on the case.

“This needs to be a wake-up call for America,” attorney Richard Mast of the Liberty Council told reporters. “What we see being enacted in corporate America is vague terms like labeling something ‘offensive’ is grounds for being fired. We’re seeing deligitimized expressions of religious beliefs. … Rather than disagreeing with ideas, [businesses are] characterizing the expression of a Christian worldview as offensive, hateful and hurtful, effectively enacting gag orders across corporate America for religious beliefs.”
