A man in Ohio is out of a job, simply because he recommended a Christian-based movie to a gay co-worker.
Chris Rouston was told he was being fired not because of his faith, but because he made his co-worker “uncomfortable” by suggesting the film to her. Rouston had worked for a company in Middletown, Ohio called Precision Strip for the past 13 years as a materials handler, and was well known for sharing aspects of his Christian faith with a great many people at work.
Rouston and the co-worker got into a discussion – on Facebook from their respective homes, and on their own time – about whether Christians hate homosexuals. In an effort to demonstrate to his co-worker that Christians don’t, in fact, hate gay people, Rouson suggested the co-worker see the movie Audacity, which covers this topic specifically. A short time later, Rouston was called into the manager’s office, told he was making a co-worker uncomfortable and told to go home for the day. He was instructed to return at the usual time the next day, but was then called and told to come in several hours later. When Rouston arrived, he was fired and told to gather his belongings and leave immediately.
Rouston says he is seeking legal counsel.
